When the Chevrolet Cruze was brought into production, people were awed at what Chevrolet had done with its sporty sedan. Despite the vehicle being a GM model, the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze is actually a standard vehicle that has shown no problems since its production in 2011. The first year of the Cruze was 2011 and Chevrolet did do something great for its compact sedan. From the stylish exterior to the well form-fitted upholstery on the inside; everything looks rich and elegant on the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. It is indeed a midsize sedan with above average qualities, such as top insurance pick of 2011 as it rates among the highest for the best safety rating. A number of Chevrolet Cruze features make the vehicle a great family car, which starts at only $17,130.
The Chevrolet Cruze is a bold vehicle with a lot to talk about. When the vehicle was first introduced to the market in 2011, the car was simply nothing compared to the past vehicles that Chevrolet had made. You can’t say that the Cruze is a perfectly luxury vehicle but it is something that fits the compact family sedan category. The exterior design sure has some minor upgrades for the 2013 model. When you look at the Chevrolet Cruze, you can see a few features from other Chevrolet vehicles, most notably the Malibu.
The sporty version of the Cruze, which is being referred to as the Premium Edition is somewhat a higher end compact car that comes with preselected leather seating and factory built features. With the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, you could be caught driving it around for several years as the design concept is very modern and does not look like it will go out of style. The interior of the Cruze got some minor touch-ups as well, primarily the dashboard and center console contours.
With the amount of teasing Chevrolet did with the 2013 Cruze, we expected to get a little more in terms of performance. For a compact vehicle that has the gas mileage and acceleration we prefer, it still seems to lack in the performance department. The base model 2013 Chevrolet Cruze comes standard with a four cylinder 1.8L engine. The other trim models such as LTZ and LT received the 1.4L engine, which is turbocharged. On our test drive of the 2013 Cruze, the one thing we didn’t like so much was the amount of noise the 1.8L engine pushed out.
For a brand new car, it revved up pretty hard. One thing you can make sure with the 2013 Cruze is that you do not need to accelerate a lot to get the car going, as it jumps as soon as you tap the pedal. For sporty drivers, there is also a six speed manual transmission engine available with the 2013 Cruze.
Optional Features/Fuel Efficiency
If there is one thing that makes new GM vehicles much more fun to drive and enjoy; it’s the infotainment options. The MyLink infotainment feature on the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze is provided by a fully touch screen menu that allows navigation through voice recognition. You can also pair your smart phone device with the in-car feature, which becomes extremely convenient for the youngsters. Several music/radio apps are also available on the system, making it a very interactive in-car feature that you wouldn’t see in other competitor vehicles. This MyLink infotainment feature is available for the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze on the LTZ, ECO and 2LT models. You can get this feature as an added option on the 1LT model as well.
With many GM vehicles, fuel efficiency isn’t something that they or consumers could brag about. For a compact sedan of this size, the 2013 Cruze doesn’t have a compelling fuel economy rating. Even with the downsized 1.4L engine, you’re only getting about 26 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. Highway mileage is quite impressive, as its nearing the Hyundai Elantra rating, but the city mileage surely does not do it justice. The 1.8L engine gives you about 25 mpg in city and 35 mpg on the highway. Chevrolet knows that their fuel efficiency isn’t all that great so the automatic transmission has a neutral idle feature for when you are stopped at a traffic light or stop sign.
