Buying a Mazda 6 may be an easy decision for people that are fans of the car and know lots about it, but for those who need to know a bit more information then this article is for you.
The Mazda 6 is a mid size car which means that it doesn’t have loads of headroom in the back but comfortably seats 5 people. There are different engine ranges so you can choose something that will suit you with even a diesel choice. The cost of the fuel can be a big issue these days and it does do 54.3mpg which is pretty good compared to other large family cars.
The car does have a big boot, which makes it perfect for families and you can even fold down the back seats in case you have a trip to the rubbish tip or Ikea planned! If you are using it as a family car, then the lack of rear headspace will probably not be an issue. In fact if you are not planning on regularly carrying taller people in the back, then it should be fine. Just try it out at a showroom to find out.
It is not the cheapest car with a price range of just under £15k to £21+ for a new version and obviously anything under for a second hand. However, compared to other cars in its class, it is certainly not overpriced.
There are different versions of the car, meaning you can find something to suit you. As well as engine differences it comes as a saloon, hatchback and estate, in automatic and manual and in a selection of colours.
If you want something new, then it could be worth waiting for the third generation Mazda 6 which comes out soon. It was showcase in August 2012 and should already be arriving at some dealers. Plans are to make a lighter car, which is quieter and more comfortable. With electric power steering and an engine stop – start system it will be more economical as well. This could be a big selling point for drivers who are concerned about their carbon footprint as well as those who want to keep down their car running costs.
If you want a solid family car, then it is certainly worth consideration and a test drive. It will be more comfortable for everyone, including the driver, than many other cars.
